Canon 8
Those who run the affairs of others should not be ordained as clerics before they account for it.
Magnus, bishop of Abthugni [?] said: what does Your Charity think, whether procurators, managers of estates, tutors or curators of minors, should be ordained?
Bishop Gratus said: if they leave all those affairs and account for them, and their lives are proven to be worthy in all aspects, and if they are asked to do it and the clergy approve, they should be given this office.
Because if someone is hastily ordained before being liberated of affairs and duties, the church is brought into disrepute.
All said: Your sanctity said it rightly, and therefore your decision is also ours.
