Canon 8 of the First Council of Barcelona (Iberian Peninsula, AD 540) regulates the issue of the penance received from a priest by a sick person.
Canon 8

De his qui in infirmitatibus poscunt poenitentiam et a sacerdote accipiunt, si postea convaluerint, vitam poenitentium peragant, excepto manus inpositione, segregati a comunione quandiu probabilem sacerdos eorum adprobaverit vitam.

(ed. Vives 1963: 53)
Canon 8

If those who ask for penance when they are sick, and receive it from a priest, later recover, they should live like penitents, but they should not be submitted to the imposition of hands. They should be separated from the communion until the priest has approved their life.

The provincial council was held at Barcelona ca 540 (for the date see Orlandis, Ramos-Lissón 1986: 120-121 and Schäferdiek 1967: 85-86) by the metropolitan bishop Sergius of Tarragona.
