The “Sententions of the Bishops” have been preserved among the works of Cyprian. They are the transcription of the opinions expressed by the African bishops gathered by Cyprian on 1 September 256 in order to discuss the validity of the baptism administered by the heretics; two previous councils on the same issue took place in 255 and spring 256.
